As a <b>family-run business specialising in the formulation, manufacture and distribution of phenolic compounds<\/b> for various industrial sectors, we strive to combine innovation, quality and a more responsible use of resources.<\/p><p>Our materials can incorporate up to 60% of raw materials of biogenic origin. However, some of the raw materials used in conventional phenolic resins still come from fossil sources.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6ac2b05 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"6ac2b05\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ccdf7bd elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ccdf7bd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Faced with this challenge, we are driving forward <strong><b>BIOFEN, an innovation project that seeks to explore renewable, plant-based alternatives for the manufacture of phenolic resins, reducing dependence on fossil resources without compromising the performance standards demanded by the industry.<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-26785e3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"26785e3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What is the BIOFEN project?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1599b6a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1599b6a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>BIOFEN stems from a key question for the future of industrial materials: <b>is it possible to replace some of the fossil-based raw materials with renewable alternatives whilst maintaining the quality and technical properties of phenolic composites?<\/b><\/p><p>To explore this possibility, Fenoqu\u00edmica is collaborating with three vocational training centres: the INS Proven\u00e7ana in L\u2019Hospitalet de Llobregat; the Escola del Treball in Lleida; and the CIFP Corona de Arag\u00f3n in Zaragoza.<\/p><p>In June 2026, the project received support from <b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.caixabankdualiza.es\/la-x-convocatoria-dualiza-selecciona-los-40-proyectos-de-fp-mas-innovadores-del-pais-y-superara-por-primera-vez-el-medio-millon-de-euros-para-financiarles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CaixaBank Dualiza<\/a><\/b>, as part of its commitment to innovation and collaboration between businesses and educational institutions. <b>During the 2026\u20132027 academic year, students, teachers and Fenoqu\u00edmica\u2019s technical team will work together on this industrial innovation challenge.<\/b><\/p><p>The initiative will enable the exploration of new ways to produce phenolic resins from renewable plant-based raw materials, combining research, experimentation and technical expertise.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9298f97 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"9298f97\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Industrial innovation and vocational training<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1515e8f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1515e8f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The collaboration between Fenoqu\u00edmica and the three educational institutions links the real needs of industry with the training of future technical professionals.<\/p><p>On the one hand, BIOFEN presents a technological challenge relating to the sustainability of thermosetting materials. Therefore, moving towards more sustainable formulations requires carefully evaluating alternative raw materials and ensuring that the materials maintain the necessary performance characteristics for each application.<\/p><p>At Fenoqu\u00edmica, we tackle this challenge by focusing on three pillars:<\/p><ul><li><b>Sustainability<\/b>: exploring renewable plant-based raw materials that enable us to reduce our reliance on fossil resources.<\/li><li><b>Innovation<\/b>: researching new formulations of phenolic compounds that address the industry\u2019s environmental and technological challenges.<\/li><li><b>Quality<\/b>: evaluating the properties of new materials to ensure they meet the technical requirements of industrial applications.<\/li><\/ul><p>The incorporation of renewable raw materials must be accompanied by a rigorous assessment of their performance.
